Why Speakeasy?

Speakeasy prides itself on the quality of its classes. We have qualified Spanish teachers from Spain and we focus on Spanish immersion directly from the beginning. This all-Spanish class method allows students to learn more vocabulary, Spanish sentence structure and eliminates word-for-word translations which seldom work. Our students come from all parts of the globe and for many, Spanish will become the common language amongst students. Another great thing? Speakeasy is located right in the heart of Barcelona near Plaça Universitat. It’s easy to get to and the central location offers restaurants, cafés and bars you can enjoy before or after your classes.

How big are the class sizes at Speakeasy?

We offer a variety of Spanish classes starting at level A1 up to C2. Depending on how many people sign up for the course at the time, you can have anywhere from 3 students up to 10. Usually, once you get to a higher level, class sizes decrease, giving you the best opportunity to practice your speaking. Small, intimate classes also mean that you will have special attention from the teacher to work on your problem areas.

One of the best ways to enjoy Barcelona is to live in the city, learn Spanish and apply what you’ve learned once you leave the classroom. Our long-term courses are designed to cover up to 6 levels of our casa program. We offer 5 basic long-term courses which start at 24 weeks and can be as long as 48 weeks. All our intensive courses include textbooks and registration fees. If you’re not a European citizen, we also help you with the visa application process!

Intensive Spanish Course

If you want to turbo-charge your Spanish and improve as quickly as possible… the Intensive Spanish Course is for you

You might be thinking that Speakeasy will just be a throwback to your times at primary school. This couldn’t be more wrong! Our teachers put a lot of effort into their planning and materials so that learning Spanish can be fun. Perhaps you’ve just arrived in Spain and have some time before starting a new job. Maybe you want to learn the basics of Spanish or improve on your base. By committing to 4 hours a day from Monday to Friday, you’re making an investment in which you’ll be able to see results by the end of the course!

Semi-Intensive Spanish Course

If you want a boost to your Spanish without spending months in a course… check out our Semi-Intensive Spanish Course

If you’ve been thinking about brushing up on your Spanish this is a good course for you as it won’t require too much time. By committing just two hours a day, from Monday to Friday for 4 weeks, you’ll see a great improvement in your Spanish.

• 10 hours a week, 2 hours a day, complete 1 level in 4 weeks

Evening Spanish Classes

If you’re working or studying full-time in Barcelona…. check out our Evening Spanish Classes

Speakeasy’s evening courses are great for people who claim they “don’t have time” to learn Spanish. If you’ve had enough and have finally decided to get to know the basics of Spanish or that you want to improve your level, then seriously consider an evening course. With classes twice a week starting at 18:30, you’ll be able to head on over to the school and get your studying in. Each course is only 6 weeks long, so depending on the level you want to achieve, you can stay for just 6 weeks or commit to studying at least 36 weeks. Totally up to you!

Spanish Conversation Course

If you understand what people are saying to you, can read well in Spanish and understand all the grammar, but you’re struggling to get the words out… you might like the Spanish Conversation Course

The Spanish conversation course at Speakeasy is designed for at least B1 level students that want to take their conversation skills further. Each day of the week will focus on a different conversational activity or exercise that will increase your speaking confidence and understanding of the language. These activities include debates, conversations, role-play, presentation, and pronunciation and dialogue.

• Monday-Friday: 13:30-14:30.

• 1 hour each day for a week, 5 hours in total

University Preparation Course Package

If you want to live and study at a university in Spain… the University Preparation Course Package is for you

Think of this course as a stepping stone. It is specially made for students from outside the European Union. You’ll not only be enrolled in Spanish courses in Barcelona, but Speakeasy will assist you even before your arrival. We’ll help you obtain your student visa, provide full documentation and even help with finding accommodation. Once you arrive in Barcelona, we’ll assist you with your NIE application, offer support in applying to Spanish universities and accompany you to all your state appointments.

Private Spanish Lessons

If you want a more intimate class tailored to your exact needs… sign up for one of our Private Spanish Lessons

Our private lessons are designed for individuals, couples, friends and small groups. If you have a certain goal you are hoping to attain, one of our teachers will create a plan to help you achieve it. Our private Spanish classes can take place either at Speakeasy or a location of your choice. We offer private classes for 1, 2, or 3 students.

• Flexible hours, between Monday and Friday, anytime from 9:00-20:00

Spanish Culture Class

If you want to learn more about Spanish culture… check out our Spanish Culture Class

In this quick course, you’ll study something different about Spain each day. You’ll cover topics like literature, history, art, civilization and geography. These classes can be taken alongside the semi-intensive course and require at least a B1 level. Learn why Spain is one of the most exciting cultural centres in Europe!

DELE Preparation Course

If you want an official document proving your competency in the Spanish language… take our DELE Preparation Course

DELE (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera) is an internationally recognized certification that proves your competency in Spanish. Organized by the Instituto Cervantes, taking this exam and obtaining the qualification will help you improve your CV and further your career. The Speakeasy DELE Preparation Course will help you understand the format of the exam and prepare you in the best way possible to ensure you get a high score. We offer courses for diplomas for B1, B2, C1 and C2 levels.
