Our lovely students come from all over the world, and there are usually at least 5 or 6 different nationalities in each class. We love learning about and sharing our student's backgrounds, journeys in Barcelona, and Spanish learning experiences with us here at Speakeasy. Read on to meet a few of them!
Brittany
Meet Brittany from Vancouver, Canada. Brittany knew she wanted to learn Spanish and live in a city with a beach, so Barcelona was the perfect option! Her favorite spot in the city is Bogatell beach. She also really enjoys going to the Bunkers as it’s a great hang-out spot with the most amazing views. Her future plans are to work on a cruise ship. Before the pandemic, she studied tourism and now is her chance to fulfill her dreams. Her knowledge of Spanish will also help her in the industry.
Ekaterina
Ekaterina is from Russia, and she has been in Barcelona since November and is studying at EU Business School. This is Ekaterina’s first time in Barcelona, but she has been dreaming of living abroad since she was 7 years old. Her favorite spot in the city is La Platja de la Nova Icària because she loves the sea views, swimming and playing beach volleyball. She also loves to head up to Montjuïc on an evening to watch the Magic Fountain light show In the future, she hopes that her newfound Spanish language skills will enable her to study a Master’s degree completely in Spanish!
Kamran
Meet Kamran from Baku, Azerbaijan. He came to Barcelona to study a Masters in Business Management. Kamran loves Spanish culture and wanted to learn Spanish as it’s one of the most spoken languages around the world. He hopes to use his newfound language skills to make new friends, do business and explore the world from a different perspective. His favorite spot in Barcelona is La Sagrada Familia, he enjoys sitting in Plaça de Gaudí and soaking up the beauty of the basilica. Now he has completed his studies, he hopes to stay in Barcelona and find a job!
Eliska
Meet Eliska from Prague, Czech Republic. She came to Barcelona for the first time last year and instantly fell in love with the city. She was amazed by the energy of the city, the diversity, the food and the culture! After visiting Barcelona, Eliska knew she had to spend some time living in Barcelona and thought learning Spanish was the cherry on top. Her favorite spot in the city is the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc at night. Her future plans are to continue learning Spanish in Prague during her studies and come back to BCN and see us at Speakeasy when possible!
Anirudth
Say hello to Anirudh from Singapore. Anirudh came to Barcelona last year for a few days and loved it! Apart from it being a beautiful city, he felt at home here and felt a strong urge to return. The pandemic made him realize he shouldn’t put off his goals and he decided to embark upon his Spanish language learning journey. He always wanted to live in Europe and learn another language, studying at Speakeasy in Barcelona allowed him to do both! His favorite spot in the city is Parc de la Ciutadella. In the future, he hopes to stay in Barcelona longer term and explore more of Spain and Europe.
Veronica
Veronica is from Sweden and came to Barcelona to study Spanish, she already knew the basics from high school and wanted to improve her skills. Since she first visited Barcelona she loved the city and was excited to take a Spanish course during her year abroad. In her free time, you can find her bar hopping in El Born. She’s headed back to Uppsala in Sweden to finish her law degree. However, she’s not finished with Barcelona quite yet…
