Altaïr
Altaïr is a haven for those with wanderlust. In-depth guidebooks for every country along with fiction and non-fiction travel literature can be found, divided into sections by continent. With two floors packed with travel books, comfy armchairs, a café, and plenty of quiet corners, Altair is the perfect place to spend the afternoon browsing and making travel plans. Open since 1975, Documenta is a bookshop that focuses on art, literature, and human sciences. Its interesting mix of art and philosophy make it an important place for Barcelona’s literary and intellectual scene. With titles in English, Spanish, Catalan, and French, Documenta has something for everyone. In the small seating area at the back of the shop you can take part in readings, literary discussions and debates.

Come In
Come In is an English-focused book store that has one of the most extensive selection of English-language books in the Barcelona. One half of the store is your typical book store is filled with books of every genre – biographies, classics, latest releases, children’s books, board games and audiobooks. The other part of the store is devoted to everything needed to teach or learn English, including phrase books, self-guided books and exam preparation guides, as well as other materials for studying French, German, Spanish and Catalan.

Re-read
With many locations around Barcelona, Re-read bookstores are a great place to recycle your books and enjoy almost-new ones at a fair price. This small independent chain is also found in Madrid and Malaga, and its biggest selling point is its reasonable prices—one book for €3, or five books for €10. The shops are organized into English, Spanish and Catalan sections, and staff is knowledgeable and ready to advise if you need some inspiration.
